Frequently Asked Questions

moneyFinancial Support

RPO's main concern continues to be seeking financial support. Most of our concerts are free to the public, the exceptions being the Dinner Concerts,  the annual Holiday Concert, and appearances during the Berks Jazz Fest.

Each concert costs approximately $4,500 - $5,000 to produce locally, up to $7,500 to travel. Our individual concert sponsors often provide only a portion of concert expenses. The remainder is subsidized by funding we receive from the Reading Musical Foundation (RMF) , the U.S. Recording Industry's Music Performance Trust Fund administered through the American Federation of Musicians, Local 135-211, and corporate sponsorships the orchestra has recieved from Reading Eagle Company, WEEU, and Berry Acres Llama Farm

compact diskDoes the RPO have any CD's?

That is a frequently asked question. At the moment, regrettably, the answer is no...but...we are actively looking at the possibilities. The major stumbling blocks are initial recording costs, copyright approvals, and a suitable site for recording.

Get in on the ground floor as we investigate the many aspects of bringing this to fruition by finding an underwriter for the project.

ConductorTaking Requests

1. Is there a musical selection that has a special meaning for you? Or just a favorite piece you would like to hear?

Let the orchestra know what you want performed.

2. Any closet conductors out there?

We'll ask one of the conductors to step aside (only for a moment though) and let you lead us. For a donation of $100, you may conduct a favorite march of the orchestra.
